YOUR STARTING POINT IS WHERE WE BEGIN

No experience required. No guesswork needed.

You do not need to lose weight, learn the machines, or get in shape before coming to VIP. Your program begins with what you can do today.

  • Learn how to set up and use strength-training equipment.
  • Practice exercises with coaching on technique.
  • Use resistance suited to your current ability.
  • Build a routine that fits your schedule.
  • Progress gradually as your confidence and strength improve.

Tell your trainer when something feels unfamiliar or uncomfortable. Questions are part of learning—not something to be embarrassed about.

KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT

A clear first step, before your first workout.

Your Free Body Diagnostic is a consultation and starting-point assessment. It helps us recommend a training plan; it is not a requirement to prove how fit you already are.

01 · TALK

Tell us about you.

We discuss your goals, exercise experience, weekly schedule, and any limitations or concerns you want us to know about.

02 · UNDERSTAND

Review your starting point.

An InBody body-composition assessment can help establish a baseline. We explain the results alongside your goals and training history.

03 · PLAN

Choose a practical next step.

We recommend a starting frequency and explain training options and pricing before you choose a plan. If you enroll, your trainer guides your first workout.

LEARN · PRACTICE · PROGRESS

Your trainer handles the plan. You learn the movements.

During beginner personal training, your coach demonstrates exercises, watches your technique, and helps you choose appropriate weights and repetitions.

Sessions may include strength-training machines, dumbbells, cable exercises, bodyweight movements, and mobility or balance work selected for you.

  • Learn: Understand the setup and purpose of each exercise.
  • Practice: Repeat the movement with feedback and appropriate rest.
  • Progress: Adjust resistance, repetitions, or exercise choice as your ability develops.

The aim is a productive session—not making you exhausted or sore just to prove you worked hard.

A ROUTINE THAT FITS REAL LIFE

Start with focused, 30-minute sessions.

A clear appointment and a prepared workout make starting less complicated. VIP Fitness Center’s one-on-one sessions give you coaching throughout your training time.

Your schedule is personalized. We discuss what you can realistically maintain, rather than handing every beginner the same weekly plan.

This approach is for first-time gym users, people restarting after a long break, and busy adults who want guidance instead of guesswork.

PROGRESS IS MORE THAN A NUMBER

Build confidence before chasing perfection.

Early progress can mean knowing how to use a machine, completing your planned sessions, or performing an exercise with more control. These are meaningful steps toward a lasting routine.

InBody body-composition tracking

InBody provides estimates of body composition, including body-fat percentage and skeletal muscle mass. We use these readings alongside your strength, consistency, and how you feel—not as the only measure of success.

Readings can vary with hydration and testing conditions. We look at trends over time, not a single scan. A Free Body Diagnostic is a fitness assessment, not a medical diagnosis.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU START

Beginner Personal Training FAQs

Do I need to be in shape before hiring a personal trainer?

No. You can begin at your current fitness level. Your trainer helps you learn the equipment and exercises, then adjusts the program as you become more comfortable.

What happens during my first visit?

Start with a Free Body Diagnostic to discuss your goals, training history, schedule, and starting point. We explain the recommended plan and pricing. If you choose to train with us, your first workout is coached around your current ability.

What if I have never used gym equipment before?

Your trainer demonstrates the equipment setup and movement, helps select the resistance, and coaches you through the exercise. You are not expected to arrive knowing a routine.

Will the workouts be too hard for me?

We adjust exercises, resistance, repetitions, and rest to your ability. Tell your trainer how you feel throughout the session so the workout can be challenging without unnecessarily overwhelming you.

How many times per week should a beginner train?

We discuss an appropriate starting schedule during your Free Body Diagnostic. Two or three coached sessions per week may suit some beginners, while others need a different starting plan. Your goals, recovery, availability, and other activity all matter.

Are 30-minute sessions suitable for beginners?

Our 30-minute sessions provide a focused time to learn and practice with a trainer. Exercise selection, rest, and progression are planned around you. We also discuss activity outside your appointments rather than treating those sessions as your entire fitness routine.

Can personal training help with weight-loss goals?

Your program can include strength training and a more consistent activity routine. We also discuss daily habits that affect your progress. Weight and body-composition changes vary, and no specific amount or timeline is guaranteed.

What if I have an old injury or a physical limitation?

Let us know before training. Exercises can often be adapted, but personal training is not medical treatment or rehabilitation. An unresolved injury or medical condition may require guidance from your healthcare professional before starting or progressing.

How much does beginner personal training cost?

Pricing depends on the training frequency and package you choose. We review current options, payment arrangements, and relevant policies before you enroll. Call 201-947-2003 or book a Free Body Diagnostic to discuss your options.

What should I bring, and where do I go?

Wear comfortable clothing and supportive exercise shoes, bring water, and tell us about any limitations relevant to your training. VIP Fitness Center is upstairs at 1620 Lemoine Avenue, Suite 2, Fort Lee, NJ 07024. Call us if you need help finding the entrance or have questions about access.
